Jessica Love's illustrations are joyful, full of whimsy, and are a celebration of differences and inclusivity. Her soft, pastel, watercolor illustrations truly pop with life and spark. She also is very skilled at incorporating a "flowingness" into her work. It can be strongly seen in Julian is a Mermaid whenever Julian is portrayed as being underwater, in the curtains they use to dress up in, and in the way the mermaids glide around the pages.

Her work is also highly diverse and features People of Color in beautiful and poignant lights. Her work embraces imagination and how the worlds created in children's minds can manifest in the real world, benefiting everyone.
