"Two new reports into representation in children’s books are published on Wednesday, with the Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) finding that 5% of children’s books published in the UK last year had an ethnic minority main character, compared to 4% in 2018 and just 1% in 2017" (Flood, 2018).

Pakistan faces issues on government sanctioned militancy. Pakistani writer Fauzia Aziz Minallah explains that "...during the Afgani war, when primers for children carried images of pistols and Kalashnikovs and children were taught ‘J’ is for ‘Jehad’. As a children’s writer I am contributing by producing books for children and young people on Multi culturalism and tolerance" (Minallah, n.d.).
