Introduction
Welcome!!
I'm so glad you've made your way to my "Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion/White Privilege Study in Children's Books" website.

What is this website?

Great question! Allow me to explain:

I am currently working on my graduate degree in Library and Information Science (MLIS). I've created this website as a project for my "Materials for Children" course. Within this website you will find definitions and a multitude of examples of issues relating to equity, diversity, inclusion and white privilege in children's books. I explore what the experts have to say, dive into views on children's books from around the world and closer to home, as well as provide a self reflection. I encourage you to take a look at the "Additional Resources" tab for more information relating to issues of inequity, marginalization, and popular culture.

A few notes:

All of the materials and references incorporated into this website are actual sources and articles, none of them are hypotheticals or strictly for the purpose of this website. The "References" tab can direct you to more detailed information on all sources used. All images used are from the free, pre-populated images library provided by Wix unless otherwise specified.

About the website design:

Above all, I want this website's aesthetic to be clean and direct, with a formatting and functionality that is easy-to-use. I'm a painter, and bold, appealing, color is an important element in most of my work. Something that was really enjoyable for me to do when building this website, was to hand pick the colors throughout every page to reflect an almost iridescent, enjoyable, aesthetic. I started with a pre-made green template and then went in and customized it throughout. Every button, every font choice, every header and background choice was chosen to present an easily readable, almost nature-like, iridescence to you. I hope you enjoy.
